Luis Salido, an exchange student from Mexico and a senior at ELCO High School, was required to complete 5 hours of community service through his exchange program. Luis, however, decided to go above and beyond these requirements, and not only completed them, but did six times the necessary amount.

“I served at Youth Group events like fellowship meals and playing games with elderly people, I helped with THON, I tutored Math, I helped as a Youth Track coach and in Track events.”

“It really showed me on how important is to help our community in every aspect there is. My program required me to complete 5 hours of service and I ended up having almost 30 hours, this is really a fun experience on doing and I couldn’t be able to complete it without my family.”

Special thank you to Luis for all he has done to serve our community, inside and outside of school! ELCO has definitely been a brighter place since he arrived, and we are grateful for how his service has benefited those around him. Happy Sunday everyone! This week is the ACTUAL last post about a student—I’ll be posting my farewell post in the near future. :)
